 IP Address

An Internet Protocol address is a numerical label assigned to each device connected to a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. An IP address serves two main functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing.




  • MAC (Media Access Control)  is unique address is assigned to device's.
  • Use Hexadecimal format (0-9 and A to F)

      IP v4 - 32 bit or 4 bits

IP Address Divided Into 5 Class


  • Range Class A (which has 1 Network ID and 3 Host ID)



  • Range Class B (which has 2 Network ID and 2 Host ID)

  • Range Class C (which has 3 Network ID and 1 Host ID)

  • Range of Class D 224 - 239 it is use for Multi-casting
  • Range of Class E 240 - 254 It is use for Research
