how to configure gmail in thunderbird

Gmail Task


Step 1) Login into Gmail Account

Step 2) Click on setting >> click on Forwarding and POP/IMAP


 

Step 3) Click on Enabled IMAP >> click on save changes

 


ThunderBird Task

 

Step 1) Launch ThunderBird Email

Step 2) Write Name, Email_address, Password >> click on Continue and click on Done



IMAP is one of the most common protocols for receiving email. IMAP syncs messages across all devices. 

  • Port 143 – this is the default IMAP non-encrypted port.
  • Port 993 – this is the port you need to use if you want to connect using IMAP securely.

POP3 is another protocol for receiving email on a single device. POP3 means that your email will be accessible offline and deleted from the server

  • Port 110 – this is the default POP3 non-encrypted port.
  • Port 995 – this is the port you need to use if you want to connect using POP3 securely. 

SMTP Simple Mail Transfer Protocol is the standard protocol for sending emails across the Internet.

  • Port 25 – this is the default SMTP non-encrypted port.
  • Port 465 – this is the port used if you want to send messages using SMTP securely.
